How Can I Get To Heaven Quiz

Have you kept the 10 Commandments? Give yourself one mark for every one that you have kept perfectly.

  1. No false gods. Have I ever put something or someone other than God at the centre of my life to the point that it has become my reason for living? Such as money, work, pleasure, others, myself? Have I ever dabbled in the occult?
  2. Don’t use God’s name in vain. Do I use God’s name in any way other than respectfully or in prayer? Do I say “Jesus” or “God” as a swear word or as a space filler.
  3. Keep the Lord’s Day holy. Have I always abstained from unnecessary work on Sunday? Have I set time aside for prayer? If I’m Catholic do I go to mass?
  4. Honour your father and mother. Have I always shown honour and respect to my parents?
  5. You shall not kill. Have I ever caused harm to another person? Have I ever harboured hatred, resentment or unforgiveness in my heart? Have I ever had an abortion or assisted someone to have an abortion? Have I abused my body with drugs, alcohol or smoking? (Matthew 5:21-22) (1 Corinthians 3:17)
  6. Don’t commit adultery. Have I ever had sexual relations with another person who wasn’t my husband or wife? Have I ever lusted after someone in my heart? (Matthew 5:27-29)
  7. Don’t steal. Have I ever taken something that didn’t belong to me no matter how small?
  8. Don’t lie. Have I ever told lies, spread gossip or twisted the truth?
  9. Don’t covet your neighbour’s wife. Have I ever been jealous for what others have? (Exodus 20 1-17, Deuteronomy 5 1-22)
  10. Don’t covet your neighbour’s goods. Have I ever been greedy or jealous for what others have? (Exodus 20 1-17, Deuteronomy 5 1-22)

What did you score?  To get into heaven we need to score a perfect 10 out of 10 (don’t stop reading yet, there is a solution coming up).

Why do we need a perfect score? Heaven is Holy which just means perfect. If you being imperfect were to go there it would cease to be perfect (Revelation 21:27, Romans 6:23a, Revelation 22:15, Matthew 25:41-43, Romans 8:13, Galatians 5:19-21).

If God were to judge you by the 10 commandments would you be innocent or guilty?(James 2:10)

Would you therefore be going to heaven or hell? Does that concern you? If it does, you are in a good position to appreciate the next section of this leaflet.

SurrenderBut here’s the Good News. We have a Saviour, someone who can rescue us from this situation. There is complete forgiveness and eternal life in Jesus. Jesus Christ who is both God and Man loves you totally and unconditionally. He came to earth and lived a perfect life. He scored a perfect 10 out of 10 by never breaking the commandments. Because He loves you he willingly died on the cross for the forgiveness of your sins and rose from the dead so that you could be put right with God. Jesus desires to give you the benefit of His 10 out of 10 score. He desires to substitute His obedience for your disobedience. As well as that he will help you by the power of His Holy Spirit to change the way you live and obey Him. (John 3:16, Hebrews 4:15, Romans 4:25, 1Peter 2:24, 2 Corinthians 5:21, CCC 615, Galatians 5:22-25, Isaiah 53:4-6, Acts 4:12, Romans 8:1-2)

How do we receive this forgiveness from Jesus and his perfect score 10 out of 10?.....By a stroke of genius!

  1. Put your faith and trust in Jesus and what He did for you. Ask Him for forgiveness. A wonderful way for Catholics to do this is through the sacrament of Reconciliation.
  2. Invite Jesus to be at the centre of your life. Ask Him to fill you with His Holy Spirit and change you into the person He created you to be. Jesus in us gives us power to say no to sin. (Act 2:38, John 1:12, Romans 10:9:10, Deuteronomy 30:19, Acts 16:31, John 3:36)

After this what should you do? How do you develop a personal relationship with God?

  1. Pray each day. In other words, talk to God.
  2. Read the Bible. Ask God to speak to you through it. A good place to start is one of the Gospels. (www.biblealive.co.uk or www.everydaywithjesus.com for daily devotionals)
  3. Become fully involved in the life of your church. For Catholics this will include prayerful participation in the Sacraments.
